Nationalist Naval Base At Kiangyin Occupied
LI MEETING CHIANG
Nanking, April 22.
The Communist radio today claimed 300,000 Red troops had swarm-
ed across the Yangtse River at a dozen or more points. The big Notionalist naval base at Kiongyin was reported to have been overwhelmed and Government officials were fleeing Nanking.
The Red radio said the big break-through, which likely has been oxag- gerated, was made South-West of Nanking between Wuhu and An- king, 60 to 150 milos from here. Government defences in the area had been ineffectual, the radio said.
