Improvements For KCR Uncertain

The Kowloon Canton Railway and its terminus in Kowloon stand in need of improvements, but just when those improvements will materialiso appears somewhat uncertain,

In on interview with a "China Mail" reporter, Mr.

1. B. Trevor, General Manager of the railway's. British Section; named additional signals and improved crossing stations as two immediate needs.

Asked what he would thinke of a plan to lay double tracks, at least from Kowloon to the border-slation at Shumchun, Mr. Trevor sold that it would depend mainly on the amount of traffic carried by the through line.

That, ngoln, would depend on conditions within Chine proper. However, if traffic between Kow- loun and Bankow should be re- sumed, the laying of such a double truck night be justified.

It is estimated that a double truck would pay for itself within 30 years with such traffle, plus o simultanemis increase in the traffic between here and Canton.

Mr. Trevor said that a single track would probably be advisable through the raliway tunnel in the | New Territories, if such a scheme
