The Foreign Secretary, Ernest Bovin yesterday headed off a House of Commons' debate on his Palestine policy with an assurance that Britain plans no aggressive action to support her Arab Allies.
Mr. Winston Churchill, veteran conservative leader, and the Communist,
Willie Gallacher, both pressed for British recognition of Israel. Mr. Bovin replied that recognition of a de facto government is not an easy
mattar.
