The difference between a permanent and transient guest was the main subject at yesterday's hearing of the summons against The Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels before Mr. Hin- shing Lo at Central.

At one stage of the hearing, Mr. H. G. Sheldon, KC, had to request. the magistrate to allow. him to explain and asked that his statement be accepted that the. Hong Kong Hotel was not bound to accept Government servants os guests or to quote them, special rotes,
