The first school of gas turbine technology. to
be established in Britain—and it is believed to be the first in the world—stands on an his- toric site at Lutterworth, near Rugby, England: It is where Air Commodore Sir Frank Whittle made his first jet engine. It has grown out of Whittle's experimental work and the teaching of the technical knowledge when the experience was passed on to the aero-engine industry during World War 11.
