The evidence of oyo-witnesses on the condition of

William Hutton, after he was brought 'back: to Haiphong Road Camp from' Bridge House, occupied nearly the whole of yostorday's pro- ceedings at the War Crime trial at Lyamun Barracks.

Hutton, former member of the Shanghai Muni-

cipal Police, died from the injuries he receiv ed after 10 days' beating and torture' by Japanese gendarmes at the notorious Bridge House prison in Shanghai in 1943.

A. submission that the owners of certain promises, in embarking oh a'demolition venture, wore not actuated by 'a' gëhuine desire to protect the tonants, but clearly by a profiteering in- tention, was put forward before the Full Court yesterday. The submissjon was made in the course of an appeal to the Full Court comprising Sir Leslie Gibson (Chief Justice) and Mr. Justice Gould (Puisne Judge) by way of case stated, against an order, for eviction made by Mr. W. A. Blair Kerr.

The premises forming the subject of the appeal are. Nos. 381 and 383 Shanghai Street. Kowloon.

After submissions on behalf of appellants and respondents, judg- ment was reserved.
