It has been fim working here but, you know, time doesn't stand still.

I hope you liked having this page, and I want to thank all of you who helped to produce it.

There will still be a section for teen agers in the "China Mail"-under different management. It will be on page 10 next week,

I hope you will like the new Teen Age Topics too.

For the more serious swimmer, there is the two piece elastic swimsuit, cun- ningly designed into black and white to keep you smart while keeping cool

For, the more feminine type there is the gay suit with bloomer pants and flared half skirt to accent the waist and to top it, a white pique rulle.

To keep your shoulders well protect- ed from the sun's glare there is variety of coloured beach coats. White and yellow are preferable to those who are fucky in acquiring a tan, but also popular are the large checks. The coats are crisp pique, long sleeved and flared..

CONTEST PRIZEWINNERS

We are dividing this week's $10 prize between the following four readers. They will each receive $2.50, went in the post this morning.

The fact that boys and girls have left school does not prove that they are ready for independence, and their parents have a right to stop them from starting work for away from home,"

Boys and girls who show that they can take care of themselves and have enough learning to earn for themleves should be allowed to try their luck a long as they keep touch with their parents. Again, boys and giria who are promised better chances in places away from home and have relatives or good friends where they intend to work should be allowed their chances.

In the above...cases, parents have no moral right to

stop their children, although they can stop them when they.

are not of age.

In the case of boys and girls' who are not steady, and are easily led, parents have every moral right to stop them from leaving home.

Therefore, whether parents have a moral right to stop boys and girls, from going away depends on the boys and girls themelves.

The 'nge at which a "teen-uger" de- serves independence must depend main- ly on the individual and on his upbring- Ing. However, I think that parents of under eighteens" have, a defrite right to control their children's lives, though I'm sure that most parents. would agree that this right should not be ex- ercised too despotically.

I think that most 18-year-olds would soon prove to their parents that they are responsible persona, capable of making their own way in the world. If they are not, then the fault lies at the parents, door.

I'am s schoolgirl who is nearing the day when she will leave school" and take a place in the world, maybe as a ⚫teacher, a stenographer or some par

Hicular profession. Hence this question affects me'a great deal.

When that time comes, I shall follow what advice my parents have to offer. They have seen enough of life in their time and know what will be good or otherwias for me

It'll be a time when 13 start to learn to find out for myself and I'm sure shall require every guidance from my parents to ensure that I go about my work in the right manner and treat Life in the proper spirit

The day will come when I cán turn to my parents and thank them for all they have done for me and for making my life the success it aball be...

You mentioned in a recent issue a personality paragraph. Why not Enter- view a new teen ager-every week; ask- ing the same questions, so then we could get the varied viewpoints of a number of people?

Mis Alice Poda says boys drive ber crazy. According to her, girls are usually quiet, but we boys think other. wine.

Girls are fussy. They spend most of their time and money on make-up.” During meals they take great pain to age that they do not eat much for fear of getting fat. They spend their time on looking up beauty hints from various. magazines.

I suppose by now that girl readers are'. Htching to tear my eyes out and 'pinch time black and blue That's the trouble with girls; their only means of defence being pinching and scratching. ANTONIO GERMANO DA SILVA.

Miss Poon's article on boys is po tively slanderous. Evidently she does not samciate with boys much, or the ones she does know are very queer types.

Taxi fares, ice cream and drinks, candies etc., are paid for by the "el- fish" boy when he takes a girl out.

To clear a room for dancing, fur- niture la moved by the boykuzing "misplaced energy”, as are also the chairs for the girls to sit on.

·

of course it is! We have always tried to make clear, that this section- the only one of the kind in Hong Kong is for all teen agers, no matter what' their race, colour or creed.

You don't even have to be in your teens if you want to write in The one mag is that only teen enter for our contests.

When the new Teen Age Topica opens on page 10 next week, the same policy will apply. Bo let's be hearing from all of you.

Provocative. is hardly the word to apply to Miss Poon's letter..

If boys are rather selfish (I am pot Instinct to be selfish, and girls are des«. admitting they are) it is a natural ··

tainly no less selfch than we are, a

A boy will often give his meat to girl, and let a girl go first. Abdi, girls. "tilke advantage" of "this"old-fashioned courtery. Girls want equality “when It benefits them, and female privileges when that benefits them.

If they cannot get their own way in an argument with a boy, they may lose their temper and slap him--knowing that he won't hit them back.

Miss Poon prefers girls at her parties. Has she ever tried parties with girls only? I should. be 'Interested to hear the result.

Personally I am willing to overlook the faults of the fairer in 'II. they will overlook

my stupidity, pelfisfies, ability to drive M Poon crazy, gossip- ing, destructiveness, noixiness," shyness, groodings etc.led

Here is a crack I read recently. The faults of men are many; of women only
