RAF Transport Collides With Skymaster PO B.I. E&A

SIR EDWARD GENT AMONG 39 VICTIMS

London, July 4. Sir Edward Gent, the High Commissioner for the Federation of Malaya, was killed today when a York plane of the Royal Air ForceTM Transport Command, on which he was travelling, crashed in flames near Northolt Aerodrome after amid-air collision with a Swedish Skymaster. The second plane also crashed and both planes were burnt out. The Air Ministry said tonight that there were eight

passengers and crew on board the York plane, including Sir Edward, and that all were dead. A total of 39 people were tonight believed killed.

Eyewitnesses of the accident told tonight of how they crashed in-flamos, making it impossiblo to approach them until fire brigades had been
