Washington, June 3.

The House of Representatives Appropriations Committee today re- commended a 25 per cent cut in the Marshall Plan and other foreign aid programme figures proposed by the United States Government.

The recommendation was contained in a report on the bill authorising funds for the recovery pro- grammes. The measure provides for a sum of $5,980,710,228 far global assistance in the 15- months period ending July 31, 1949, whereas President Truman had originally asked for. funds to cover a 12-months period.

The Committee cut the amount for European aid to $4,000. million, $245 million less than the figure asked for. It also announced it was dis- satisfied with the progress of rehabilitation of Germany.
