Private armies will not be allowed in India nor will any organisation preaching violence or communal hatred be tolerated, the Govern- ment of India announced in a Gazette Extra- ordinary today.

Although no organisations were named, the an- nouncement was, taken as a last warning to four communal bodies-Rashtriya Swayam- sevak Sangh (the militant Hindu volunteer or- ganisation). Hindu Mahasabha (the Hindu communal organisation). Moslem National Guards and the Akali Sikh Party composed of extreme Nationalist Sikhs.
