Tension Relaxes Over Kowloon Speedy Settlement In Sight?

Price: 20 Cents.

Nanking, Jan. 20. The Foreign Minister, Dr. Wang Shih-chich, told an Executive Yuan meeting today that the tension resulting from the Kowloon in- cident had relaxed and a "speedy settlement” of the squatter dispute is being sought. Dr. Wang referred to the Canton rioting-in which the British Consulate and other British build- ings were razed to the ground as a "separate incident" of which action is being deferred. While a full investigation is being conducted by the Chinese Government, he said the Bri- tish authorities are advancing no formula for the solution pending instructions from

Epic Story Of Atlantic Rescue

Hamburg, Jan. 20.

Eight British seamen told last night how they were rescued from the helplessly drifting, listing and leaking hulk of a former German luxury liner in a gale in the North Sea by the "won- derful seamanship" of a German trawler skipper.

The liner, the Sierra Cordoba.? which formerly took German to South America and on "Strength Through Joy" trips, was being. lowed by two tugs from Ham- burg for scrapping.

In a strong westerly wind the tow ropes parted during Satur day night, The tugs lost sight of the hulk, which was carried by the driving gale' towards the Danish coast, and did not find it again until Monday, the ship- ping agents said.

The crew members said that on Sunday they became alarmed at the list of the ship-so steep "English Example" "Afterwarda I saw the out-
