REGISTER ADOPTED DAUGHTERS

For the purpose of girl protection, the Hong Kong Government has made a law requiring those who have adopted daughters to register and has appointed the S.C.A. to enforce the law.

Before the outbreak of the Pacific War the number of adopted daugh- tera already ergistered

svet

According in the report fur las month, the number of adopted daugh. ters registered to date since the te sumption of registration, was 772, of of whom 14 were registered during the month including seven whs enm op voluntarily and 27 who were dis covered by officers #f the S... j their house-in-house visits and told register. During last month two per- sns were prosecuted for failing register their adopted daughters and fived.

lodging by fact it is believed that the number of people who have adopted daughters and who have not yet registered must be large. This is probably due to the S.C.A. having been lentent in enforcing the law in

the past.

If progress retains unchanged may be necessary to proarvute that who fail to register when they are discovered, without giving them chance to effect registration.
