The National Assembly is meeting at 0900 GMT today to try to complete the passing of the Government's special powers bill after negotia- tions for a settlement of the nation's country- wide strikes-now involving 2,000,000 work- ers and paralysing essential services-broke down again last night.
The decision to meet this morning came after a 35-hour session which ended when the Cham- ber passed by 404 votes to 184 the first part of the Government bill permitting the mobilisa: tion of a further 80,000 reservists.
