A series of Chinese Communist successes which made the Government military-situation in the North East take a serious turn for the worse was reported today by pro-Government despatches.

They conceded the loss of several bastions on the outer defence ring of Changchun, and admit- ted the fall of three keypoints in the rail sys- tem linking Manchuria and Inner Mongolia.
