Among the many post-war tasks which the Army has been called upon to perform, one of the more interesting and more difficult has been the recovery of ammunition from old Japanese and British underground storage sites. The removal of this ammunition, which otherwise would have proved a potential source of dan- ger to the community as well as a ready prey for looters, hos been undertaken in Hong Kong over the last 18 months by the Royal Engineers and the Royal Army Ordnance Corps.
