PALESTINE PRISON BREAK Terrorist Assault On Acre Gaol By Two

Jeep-Loads Of Armed Jews

Jerusalem, May 4.

Sixty prisoners escaped from Acre prison tonight. The break followed a terrorist assault on the gaol in which two jeep-loads of terrorists drove into the almost entirely Arab town of Acre after mining the roads round the town. The attack coincided with a loud explosion inside the prison. Two terrorists were wounded and later arrested. One British constable was wounded in the leg.

Three Jews were found dead, other

Dov Gruner and three Jewish terrorists were in Acre prison last month, and tonight's attack fallowed a week's hull on the terrorist "battlefront" during which rumours of a trace] swept the country.

It was later stated that 44 of the 60 prisonera who escaped from the grim old Turkish prison after the terrorists had blasted a hole in the wall were still at large. Sixteen prisoners were re- captured,
