JUDGE'S CLASH WITH DEFENCE COUNSEL
Tokyo, Apr. 22.
Sir William Webb, president of the International Tribunal for the Far East, today accused the American defence counsel of "Indulging in enemy propaganda."
Sir William's statement followed an acrimonious debate over the inclusion in defence testimony of a speech by President Truman to Congress. in which the President demonstrated the fear of the spread of Communism throughout the world.
Defence counsel argued that, ever, he refused to take back the Japanese, in their opera. anything he had and, tions in Manchurin, were mo- tivated by the same anxiety now expressed publicly by Ame rican officials.
