International Shipping Conference Opens

London, Feb. 11.

Delegates of private shipping interests of 13 na- tions met today in a closed session at the first International Shipping Conference in 19 years, to discuss the weighty agenda of technical "and international problems, many of theni an aftermath of the Second World War.

The keynote of the conference was set by Sir Joseph Maclay, President of the United King dom Chamber of Shipping, who, in his wel- coming address, pointed to the "many pro- blems which lie before us.”
