Among those taking a keen interest in the races were Vice- Admiral Sir Denis Boyd, C-in-C Pacific Fleet, the GOC, Major- General FW. Festing, and the AOC, Air Commodore Webster.

The racing itself was feature- less, ns nearly all the winners were the favourites. The only exception was in the second race. when Major Denholm rode Anthony past the winning post fully length ahead of the favourite Tony, to pay backers $90.60, the biggest dividend of the day,

The Tote Double, also was a handsome figure. Each of the 13. Jacky winners received $520.10. The first prize in the Cash Sweep on the last race, drawn by ticket No. 37982, was $38,486.
