Dutch Uneasy Over Indies Situation

(By Patrick Crosse)

The Hague, Sept. 25.

Widespread unofficial strikes and rioting in which

one Amsterdamer has been killed illustrates

the uneasy watchfulness with which the Dutch

are awaiting the renewal of negotiations with The Dutch Government has taken steps towards breaking the five-month-old deadlock in the negotiations by sending to Batavia, the main Dutch stronghold in the Island of Java, a "Commission-General" of three leading Dutch- men. Radical

Plan For Germany

Washington, Sept. 25. Official United States sour- es here have disclosed a radical American plan for financial re- form in Germany.

The plan involves the repu. liation of the greater part of Germany's

reich. 400,000,000 marka national debt and the calling in of the relchmark, the issue of which would be sub- stituted by new currency which it is said is being discussed by economic experts of the Big Four in Berlin.

The plan, if approved by the British, French and Russian authorities would be aimed at checking inflation by bringing money into a supply more near- ly in line with the amount of goods available in the con- quared country.
