Wallace To Keep His Mouth Shut
Washington, Sept. 19.
After seeing President Truman in a conference for over two hours last night, the United States Secretary of Commerce, Mr. Henry Wallace, announced that he would make no public statements or speeches until the Paris Confer ence was concluded.
Mr. Wallace read to newspapermen present a statement saying that he had reached this con- clusion after a "most detailed and friendly dis cussion" with President Truman. This is taken to mean that in spite of Mr. Wallace's repeated criticism of the Government's foreign policy, President Truman has agreed to keep Mr. Wallace in the Cabinet.
"The President is very cond- dent about peace with Russia," Mr. Wallace told reporters as he left the White House.
