Shanghai, Sept. 3. Lieut. Gen. Hisakasu Tanaka, "Governor- General of Hong Kong" during the Japanese oc- cupation, was sentenced to death by a U.S. Mili- tary Commission today for the execution of an American pilot shot down over the Colony.

Tanaka's chief-of-staff, Maj- Gen. Fukuchi, received a simi- lar sentence for his part in the same erime. The pilot, Major David H. Honek, was shot down and captured in Hong Kong an Jan. 6. 1945 and exccuted on Feb. 6, 1946

The Bombay police opened fire three times and fired 26 rounds yesterday. The total official casualties in riots here since Sunday are 71 killed and 262 injured. During the same period, 600 people were rounded up by the police.
