Washington, Aug.‘25. The American Naval Attaches have been with- drawn from the ports of Archangel and Vladi- vostock at the request of the Russian Govern- ment, a State Department spokesman an- nounced today.

The Soviet authorities have not yet agreed to the request for the opening of American consulates in other cities. This means that United States representation in Russia is confined to the Moscow Embassy at- tache in Odessa and the Vladivostock Con- sulate.

Pasa South really thought he could beat four hearts badly (he couldn't have, by the way, for good play would hold the set to one trick); and practically gonshed his teeth when his partner leaped into the breach with a sacrifice bid of four spades. But it, all ended well enough.
West cashed the King and Ace of spades, then shifted to the four of hearts. East took the heart Aco and, unwilling to open clubs away from his mator ten-Ace, made the fatal error of returning the deuce of hearts,
