BIG FOUR TURN A CORNER

Agreement Expected On Peace Talks

Dramatic Turn In

Paris Talks

(By Sylvain Mangeot)

Paris, July 1. A corner has been turned in the Big Four Foreign Ministers conference. When it meets today it is expected that rapid, agreement will be reached on the calling of a full peace confer- ence of 21 powers.

This dramatic new turn to the fortune of the con- ference is a result of yesterday's momentous five hour meeting at which a compromise pro- posal for the settlement of the Trieste pro- blem, advanced by the French Foreign Minis- ter, Georges Bidault, was accepted as the basis of discussion by the other three Ministers.

Under this plan. Trieste is to neighbouring with its become. territories, an autonomous terri tory administered by the Big Four. Italy and Yugoslavia.
