Bread' rationing, which is to come into operation in Britain on July 21 for the first time in her history, is likely to last for at least 18 months, according to authoritative sources tonight. Impending rationing was announced to the House of Commons today by the Food Minister, Mr. John Strachey, who said that the basic rate. for adults would be nine ounces a day, with larger amounts for expectant mothers, grow- ́ing children and manual labourers.
