The variety to grow at the present time is the white string bean, called in Chinese "pat yuet tâu kok”. The bean should not be transipanted so we shall not supply you with young plants. Seeds for planting can be purchased from any seed dealer. They cost- about twenty cents a tael (Chinese ounce). Tifis amount should produce within two months enough beans for five persons on ten to fifteen occasions.
