LONE MAN TACKLES 4 GUNMEN

"Dave" Leonard, manager of the Paramount Ballroom, had a harrow escape from having his head blown off by a revolver fired at close range when he courageously tackled four armed men who tried to hold him and a companion up in the carly hours of yesterday morning. Smart work by the police resulted in the arrest of four men within three hours and the "China Mail" understands that he has con- firmed that their description tallies with that of the mon who attacked him.

R

Mr. Leonard was walking back from the Paramount Ball- room, Windsor House, with companion. They had reached Johnston Rond at about 2 a.m. when he suddenly noticed that four men. two ahead and two behind, were closing in on him in the dimly fit, deserted street.
