ROYAL ENGINEERS, NEWCOMERS TO FIEST DIVISION, DID UNEXPECTEDLY WELL AGAINST SOUTH CHINA, LEAGUE AND SHIELD CHAM- PIONS, IN A FRIENDLY FOOTBALL GAME AT CAROLINE HILL YESTERDAY, AND WERE
·BEATEN BY ONLY THE ODD GOAL IN FIVE AFTER BEING 2-1 DOWN AT THE INTERVAL.

Engineers were without two of their regular players, Palmer being on the injured list and Jones Moores and their left winger, being an absentee. Gough, who were brought into the side, both did well. Sappers, on their display yesterday, should upset a few teams in First Division.
