Collings Wins Valley & Kowloon Titles In Same Year

As generally expected, R. K. Collings won` the Happy Valley Golf Championship last Sun- day with an aggregate of 152 (78 and 74 ) with J. M. Thómisón runner-up; two strokes be- hind (73-81-154).

Collings, however, started very badly, having a 6 at the very first hole, and then, after having recovered somewhat in the afternoon, was short with his second shot at the last hole.

A large number of spectators | 90< had gathered at the club-house, including Thomson. who had finished with 154, and they all applauded when Collings chipped out of the bunker in great style and sank his putt for a par 4.

Had he failed to do this the

championship would no doubt have gone to Thomson, who play ed excellent golf in the morning he led the field by five strokes at the end of the first 18 holes -- but fell off in the afternoon.
