FRENCH NORTH AFRICA AT MERCY OF INVADER

(From A Special Correspondent Somewhere In Morocco)

THE FAIR-SIZED French army in North Africa would be unable to resist for any considerable time attack by a well-equipped modern army. It has few 'planes and little fuel and ammunition. It is also short of mechanised artillery and motor transport.

These are facts that need to be faced in view of the news that the Germans have begun to back with threats their pressure on Vichy for the use of Tunis- ian bases, including Bizerta.

TEN KILLED IN ONE HOUSE

A bomb which hit a house containing twelve people in Southern Eng- land killed ten of them, including six children.

The Nazis are also demanding passage through Tunisia for troops for Gen. Rommel in Libya.

It is probable that the Nazis will soon force the issue and they

to are as likely

come through North Africa from Tunisia west- wards 35 through Spain south- wards.

German infiltration into North Africa is not confined to Morocco, and it is noticeable that Algeria and Tunisia are both in a worse economic position than Morocco.

Anti-German Feelings.

'GAOL LISTENERS' GALL

The Nazi-controlled Paris radio has appeal- ed to the authorities to imprison for six months everybody who listened to the B.B.C. and to confiscate their radio sets.
