BECOMES ENGAGED
News has been received in the Colony of the engagement of Major Clive Charlton Garthwaite, R.A., older son of Major and Mrs. Alan Garthwaite, of Kirkby, Lonsdale, to Mies Dorothea Helen Macleod, younger daughter of Major-General and Mrs, Macleod.
Major Garthwaite is well-known: In the Colony as an Army and Interport hookey player and cricketer, having repre cented Hong Kong against Shanghai In: 1933-36 ¡nclusive, and against Malaya In 1933, in an Interport trial on the K.C.C. ground, he took all 10 wickets, while he also act a new vogue when he attended a K.C.C. Due to the fact that there were not sufficient members present to form a quorum, the annual general meeting of Kowloon Golf Club, which was to have taken place last evening, was postponed to Thursday, September 4, at 6 p.m.
