U.S. TANKS MEET NAZIS' 5 YEAR OUTPUT IN YEAR
(By James G. Simonds)
TANK PRODUCTION in the United States has reached in little more than a year a point which Germany attained in more than five years of rear- mament under Hitler, and already American tanks are superior to. those being produced in Germany, Lieutenant Colonel John K, Christmas, the Army's leading tank expert, said in Washington.
Colonel Christmas has just been called to Washington from the ord- nance proving grounds at Aber- deen, Md., where he has been directing tests and improvements on new types of combat vehicles, to head a new tank and combat- vehicle division of the Ordnance Department. The colonel has been associated with the develop- ment of every American tank

Discussing the new twenty- nine-ton medium tank built by the Chrysler Corporation, Colonel Christmas said that it was the re-i sult of a combination of as many new engineering developments as was possible in view of the need for speed in production. He ques- tioned whether critics were cor-
