"You're picking winners well today= see if you can tell this whisky

"It's White Horse, of course-

I could tell it blindfold”

The rare and subtle character of White Horse sets it apart from any other whisky. You can tell it by its exquisite bouquet alone. But it is the perfect blending of fragrance with mell- owness and smoothness which makes White Horse Whisky the equal of a fine liqueur. The millions of gallons of finest Scotch whisky matured and maturing ensure that the quality of White Horse never varies.

FURTHER VICHY BREACHES OF SYRIA ARMISTICE

FOLLOWING FURTHER breaches of the Armistice Convention by the Vichyites in Syria it is learned in Cairo that the Allies are now in a position to take such action as they think necessary to ensure a free choice by the Vichy troops as Article Eight of the Armistice provides.

General Wilson, the British G.O.C., has been obliged to protest specifically against these breaches of the Convention, namely:-- First, General Dentz denounced as deserters those who opted for Free France.

Second, the families and baggage of many who waited for a chance to opt were summarily removed to ports of embarkation.

Third, the Vichy authorities sold a considerable quantity of war materials to civilians after the Con- vention was signed.

These Improprieties are. course quite distinct from the bad | faith for which General Dentz 1 and 34 officers were detained.

THIS CONSISTED IN PER- MITTING BRITISH PRISONERS TO BE SENT FROM SYRIA — SOME EVEN INTO AXIS HANDS WHILE NEGOTIA- TIONS WERE PROCEEDING.

HEAVY PRICE PAID

Some idea of the heavy price in blood that Ger- many has already paid for her invasion of Soviet Russia is given by figures of Nazi lasses published in Moscow yesterday.

These figures, by no means com- plete, show that one tank corps, II divisions and 13 regiments have been wiped out, while divisions have lost half their effectives.
