TIONS HAVE BEEN BROKEN OFF, ACCORD- ING TO AN ANNOUNCEMENT MADE BY THE FOREIGN OFFICE IN LONDON LAST EVEN- ING.
The
Foreign Office announcement stated: "The Finnish Minister, M. Gripen- berg, was received this (Friday) evening at the Foreign Office by Mr. Eden and, acting on instructions from his Government, broke off diplomatic relations between Finland and Britain.
"In consequence of this action instructions have! been sent to Mr. Gordon Vereker, British Minister in Helenski, to ask for his passports."
Finland's action was forecast earlier by Reuter's diplomatic cor- respondent who said there had been certain developments which suggested such a move would not long be delayed.
Information had been received in London that the Finnish Gov- ernment had asked the Swedish Government whether it would un- dertake the protection of Finnish interests in Great Britain,
