PILOT WILL AVENGE COMRADE
This is the story of two young Czechs.
Friends for many years, they escaped together when thi country was violated by the Nazis. Arriving in Britain, they trained together as fighter pilots, and were comrades in many hard-fought day battle.
During London's last big b'itz they left the same aerodrome within a few moments of each other.
Revenge Pledge
Within ten minutes, the first pilot signalled that he had con- facted and destroyed a German, then added: "I am hit, and am trying to land." The latting was disastrous; his plane hit The ground, turned over and became | ablaze; it was impossible to re- cue its gallant pilot.
The second of the two (001)- rades meanwhile carried on his "bag" for the night was three Nazi bombers.
On a Sunday he came to view the tragic end of his friend's last battle. In a voice charged with grief And hardly - suppressed
he said: "Three is anger. enough to pay for my friend will have more of them"

Then he stooped under the charred wreckage. and scooped out handfuls of unexploded bu'- lets
"My friend cannot shoot any more "he said, "I will shoot them for him!"
