They have tried their best to prove that their greeting "Heil og snel," which translated literally means "Hell, All Hail and Welcome," was used in the olden days by the Norwegians. But unfortunately for them in the case as in several others their choice of slogans has acted as a boomerang. It would be difficult indeed to imagine any- thing more telling and more damn- ing than the discovery that "Heil og sack" is used in the Landsmaal edition of the Norwegian Bible. (Landsmaal is the common form. for the writing of the different dialects.) This Quisling Nazi slogan is moreover used in a place of Scripture which more than speaks for itself.

"This is an exact translation of the passage: 'Then the traitor walked over to Jesus, kisaed him and said: 'Heil, All Hall and Welcome."
