Three Men Who Are Leading Russians In Their Fight

VOROSHILOV, BUDENNY and Timonshenko are considered to-day to be the "Big Three" in the Red Army and all of them are playing an im portant part in the defence of Soviet Russia against

the German invasion. These Russian military lead- ers have risen from the ranks and all three have been responsible for the numerous successes gained by the famed First Cavalry Army. A detailed sketch of each of these men follows:—

Marshal of the Soviet Union Klement Voroshilov, one of the most prominent figures of the Soviet State and the Red Army, was born in 1881 in the country's most important industrial area-the Donets basin. Beginning from his early childhood he worked for many years in the mines, metallurgical and machine-building plants in Lugansk, Petersburg and other cities.
