ROYAL AIR FORCE NEUTRAL

SUPREME

IN WESTERN AIR

BRITISH PILOTS were declared by a United States Army observer in London to have already won "absolute supremacy" in the air over western Europe. He said he had seen photographic evid- ence that destruction by the Royal Air Force in the Reich far exceeded the damage done to London by the German attacks last autumn.

The American observer said that in the 100- mile arc from Dover swinging, across France and the Low Countries there was "no effective opposi- tion, by day or night, to the Royal Air Force. The spectre of invasion of England, he said, had been "effectively banished" for the first time since it appeared in June, 1940.
