GERMANS TREAT RUMANIANS BRUTALLY

On the Bessarabian sec- tor of the front some Rumanian-German army units were routed by a counter attack of Soviet

forces.

On territory captured by our troops in a dense forest on tho edge of which enemy headquar- ters had been stationed, Red Army Gavrilenko's men of Lieutenant company, found several scores of corpses of Rumanian soldiers.

According to the testimony of war prisoners, the Rumanian sol- diers were shot by the German military for refusing to fight Soviet troops.

The prisoners stated that Ger- man storm detachments operat Ing in the rear of every army unit mercilessly manhandle and shoot Rumaniana, Hungarians and Slovaks for the slightest

offence.

German soldiers take the best foodstuffs, often blundering food trains of their allies. The Rumanians have to feed on the remains from German feld kit- chens.

الله

A captured soldier said that he

execution of witnessed the Rumanian just for the reason that in both legs he be.ng wounded could not rise and salute a Ger- man lieutenant-Tass.

SECRET RADIO IN GERMANY

The

broadcasting by secret transmitters of bogus official state- ments has become so frequent that the German High Command now publish a warning that this constitutes high treason, punish- able by at least penal servitude and possibly by the death sentence. It had hitherto been assumed that

emunated the broadcasts

from

stations outside the Reich, but the statement of the High Command Indicates that at least some are operating inside Germany or the occupied countries.

Even before the war secret broadcasting was a crime incur. ring hard labour or imprisonment, but in war-time, besides interfer- ing with the German defence measures, it constitutes collusion with the enemy and entails dras- any offender, tic penalties for irrespective of person, age, or rank, and particularly for amateur broadcasters-even for those who believe that the messages they send out are not important.

The warning concludes with the words; "Offenders take care! Secret broadcasting is treason."
