FURTHER LOSS AND DAMAGE to enemy shipping during the week ended June 30 is reported from the Mediterranean area but the concentra- tion of heavy attacks on harbours, ports and naval bases in north-west Germany and enemy-occupied countries is the most noteworthy feature of the week.
The naval base at Kiel has been the most regu- lar objective of the Bomber and Coastal Commands and the Fleet Air Arm operating with the Coastal Command, although Bremen, Emden, Wilhelmsha- ven. Cuxhafen, Sylt, Terschelling, Oldenburg, Ham- burg, Den Helder, Dunkirk, Calais and Boulogne have come in for their share of punishment.
Off the coast of Syria full sup- port has been given the British and Free French troops operat- ing against the Vichy forces, and the harbours at Beirut and Tripoli have been frequently bombed with good effect.
The harbour at Benghazi has become an almost routine exer- erse for the RAF. and there are reports of at least six ralds on this port during the week. Many hits were obtained on moles and numerous fires started,
