The poor times recorded was main feature of the Gwim-. ming trials hold at Victoria Recreation Club last evening in preparation for the swimming gala between the Club and Lai Taun on Saturday, July 12. An absentee from the trials y terday was Wilfred Lawrence, but it was stated that he was prevent- ed from

taking part owing to pressure of business. He has been "seeded" in the 100 Yards free- style event, however, and will be swimming for V.R.C. in this race at the gala. He will also probably take part in the 150 Yards med- ley relay race.
