A POLICE RAID on a house in the West End at which a game of chemin-de-fer was said to have been found in progress and chips to the value of £3,712 discovered in a locked box, was described at Marlborough Street police court.

Alec Taylor, 40, independent, Reeves House, Reeves Mews, South Audley Street, W., and David Falcke, 49, independent, Brompton Road, S.W., who had been accused at a previous hearing of keeping a common gaming house, surrendered to their bail.

Summonses were

now substi- tuted — against Taylor for being, the keeper of a common gaming- house and for using premises for unlawful gaming: against Falcke for acting in the conduct of a com- mon gaming-house and assisting. They pleaded not guilty, and the hearing of the case against them was adjourned for a week.
