EIGHTH SUCCESSIVE ENORMOUS

NIGHT RAID ON GERMANY

STRONG FORCES of British bombers on Wednesday night attacked ports in north- west Germany and the naval base at Brest, where the battleships Scharnhorst and Gnei- senau and a Hipper class cruiser are still berthed.

Despite variable and often cloudy wea- ther, the British aircraft reached their objec- tives, says the Air Ministry news service.

Heavy bombs were seen to burst across the docks at Brest, and at Bremen large fres were started.

One pilot stated: "The wea. ther was strange. The North Sea was hidden by haze

and we could only just detect the German coaɛt. It was queer to 500 A.A. shella bursting above it as If coming from nowhere.
