H.B.-Tulsa Clash Caroline Hill Tomorrow

By "Grandstand"

THREE FRIENDLY tilts are on the card for the week-end, the Tulsa team being featured in a double-header with a clash against Royal Engineers at 2.30 p.m. to-day and a game with the strong Hong Kong Brewers nine to-morrow at 10 a.m. South China tangle with U.S.S. Mindinao at 2.30 p.m. to-morrow to complete the programme. All games will be staged at the Caroline Hill park.

The Leonardmen are a-rarin' to take on the Tulsamen in their first serious encounter this sea- son, and although this will be Madeen "Slim" Arculli's first pitching assignment this year, he already appeared to be in mid-season form at a re- cent workout. Brother Obear will be at the other end of the battery.

The line-up which has been given to me may seem to be a bit on the screwy side, but it is pro- bably in the nature of positional try-outs.

For instance, George Souza, whose favourite alley is in the short-stop gap. will be seen on the right of the middle cushion, | whilst Tony "Peewee" Alves will be holding the windy alley. Jin- doo "Musclebound" Hussain will! be guarding the initial sutchel, whulst the "Bam" will take care of the But-corner. Hank "Show- bout" Ali, Art Ozorio and "Baby" Abbas will be the outfielders

The bast of to-day's senior bowls matches should be the K. D. R. C.-K.B.G.C. "B" fixture at Hung Hom, not because any vital issue is at stake but because these teams

appear to be better matched than any other two opposing teams on

the programme.

himself as the fireman'.

The Mindinao nine have been hard-hit by the 1058 of Cecil "Horseface" Douglas, probably the Morris best first sacker seen on the local diamond, whilst "Poochie" Chase's absence from the keystone will also be sorely felt. The Minnie; will, therefore, start this season depending more than ever on their smoke-ball artists Ski Powlawski and Tony Muscavage. With Pow- ławski on the hill, half their troubles will be over, as the Pulverising Polack has only been beaten once on the hill, and that was when the slugging H. B. gang blasted him out of the box towards the end of last seasort.

Lau To Pitch?

The Sappers, having discovered a pitcher in Lefty Sarsfield, com- bined with their experience gain- ed last season, should give creditable showing this year.

a

Al Lau, former infielder of the Chinese Baseball Club, will have to bear most of the pitching bur den for Chung Hwa, with Bill Changcatching. South China is. still an unknown quantity, but it is almost certain that Wally Ching will be called upon to do mound duties for the team.

Two post-season Softball games have been arranged, the first will be played off at Stubbs Road, this afternoon, when the True Light Girls will tangle with the Car- dinals at 4.00p.m. whilst the Canuckettes! micet the Standard- Vacuum Ollers at 4.00 pm, at Lalchikole to-morrow. སས1、, ।།འས་
