A VERY HOT LAST SATURDAY WAS AN IDEAL DAY FOR BOWLS. SUN WAS TEMPERED BY A COOL BREEZE AND WITH MOST OF THE GREENS IN SPLENDID CONDITION AFTER THEIR OFF-SEASON REST, THREE HOURS ON THE BOWLING GREEN PROVED A VERY ENJOY- ABLE WAY OF SPENDING A HALF-HOLIDAY.

The dry spell had its disadvantages, however, as most of the greens were as hard as iron and exceptionally fast. From all over the Colony I have had reports of heads being completed with 50 per cent. or so of the woods in the ditch. Most remark- able case brought to notice was in the K.C.C.- P.O.C. match in Second Division, When Carr, of K.C.C. went down to bowl against Bagley, on a long head, the latter's front men had left only one wood alive!
