BREAK IN

RELATIONS PROBABLE

(SPECIAL TO "CHINA MAIL").

Diplomatic relations. between the United States and the German-in- fluenced Danish Govern- ment have been virtually severed, with a complete rupture expected at any

moment.

President Roosevelt declared in Washington that the United States would stand fast in its determina- tion to fortify and defend Green- land, despite the repudiation by Copenhagen of the agreement reached in Washington,

Officials in Washington yester- day conceded the

growing pos- sibility of a similar breach with Rome after the State Depart- ment's receipt of a further "most vigorous protest" from Italy over the United States'

action in seizing 28 Italian vessels and their crews.
