BOY ACCUSED OF LOOTING TOYS

A thirteen-year-old boy who was stated not to have attended school for a year was at East London Juvenile Court accused with two others, aged twelve and ten, one his brother, of stealing toys worth 5s, from a war-damn- aged warehouse,

An L.C.C. official said that the thirteen-year-old boy was eva- cuated in September, 1939, but returned home last Christmas. Since then he had not attended school, his father saying that he had kept the boy at hame because the mother was ill.

The Chairman (Colonel Henri- ques) told the father: This is ab- solutely scandalous. You would not dare make this excuse in peacetime.

The case was adjoined for 24 week.
