R.A.F. BACKING UP SIEGE OF KEREN

MANY RAIDS ON enemy positions in support of the successful military operations in Eritrea and Abyssinia were carried out by R.A.F. aircraft on Tuesday, states an R.A.F. communique issued in Cairo.

Keren was again persistently attacked and several tons of bombs were dropped dur- ing the day.

GERMAN TANKER SUNK

The British submarine Sturgeon (Lt.-Comdr. St. Clair Ford) has sunk an 8,000-ton German tanker off the Norwegian coast.

Announcing this yesterday, the Admiralty in London

says the submarine fired at the tanker during mist and rain.

LITTLE SIGNIFICANCE is attached in London military circles to the announcement in yesterday's Cairo communique that a small enemy detachment had occupied El Agheila one of the farthest out- posts of the British defence in Libya, some 180 miles from Benghazi.
