DIPLOMATIC TRIUMPH

FIRST SEMI-OFFICIAL German com- ment on Yugoslavia's entry into the Axis orbit is in the Foreign Office organ “Diplomatische Korrespondenz.”

It describes the latest extension of the pact as "a further step on the road to creating pan-European solidarity and a setback for the Anglo-Saxon world. Neither the presence of Mr. Eden in the Near East nor the propagan- da value of the Lease and Lend Act could blur the sense of reality of the Yugoslav statesmer.'

In Rome, the "Giornale d'Italia." summing up the significance of the development, declares "it rein- forces the European unity, for "} nation of 16 million men possess - ing natural riches and a hard- working population has been add- ed to the group gathering round the Axis powers.
