STANLEY RAID DISCLOSURE
RESIDENTS OF SHAMSHUI- PO, MONGKOK, YAUMATI, THE CENTRAL DISTRICT, WAN- CHAI, AND SHAUKIWAN, WERE AMONG 63 CHINESE, MEN AND WOMEN, ARRESTED LAST NIGHT IN A GAMBLING RAID AT NO. 12, MAIN STREET, STANLEY.
As a result of the raid, four men, alleged keepers of the establish- ment, were each fined $100, or two months' hard labour, and two others, who pleaded that they were "employed to watch for the Police" were each fined $50, or six weeks' imprisonment.
Of 57 others, mostly women, charged with gambing, 13 failed to turn up and bail of $10 each estreated. while the remainder were each fined $10.
A sum of $110.20, picked by dur- ing the raid was ordered to be placed in the Poor Box.
